Thay Pagoda (Pagoda of the Master): 30km southwest of Hanoi, Thay Pagoda is one of famous attractions dedicated to Thich Ca Budha, Sakyamuni and 18 arhats. Built in the 11th century during the reign of King Ly Nhan Tong, Thay Pagoda consists of three sections: the outer part for offerings and ceremonies, the middle part for worship of Buddha and the inner part for worship of the monk Tu Dao Hanh, the master after whom the pagoda is named. Interesting sites can be visited outside the main pagoda are Phat Tich and Cac Co Caves.
Tay Phuong Pagoda (Pagoda of the West), also known as Sung Phuc Pagoda, consists of three single-level structures built in descending order on a hillock said to resemble a buffalo. The figures representing ‘the conditions of man’ are carved from jackfruit wood, many dating from the 18th century, and are the pagoda’s most celebrated feature. The earliest construction here dates from the 8th century.
